What is Resilience?

Resilience can be defined as one’s ability to deal with and bounce back from difficult situations such as, tragedy, trauma, adversity or stress. It is not about avoiding difficult situations, but rather it is about facing them and using helpful thoughts, patterns, or behaviours to overcome them. The good news about resilience is that it is malleable and therefore a learned behaviour, rather than an inborn skill or talent.
