This course focuses on two core skills for leaders, managers, supervisors and people who assume a leadership role in their work. The skills of listening effectively and giving constructive feedback are basic and essential in working with people and yet they are often undervalued or practised ineffectively. 

This programme will enable participants to understand and practice these skills while applying them to their work context. The programme also focuses on the ability to receive feedback positively and use it to one’s advantage.

  • Emotional triggers and the fight-or-flight response 
  • Fixed vs growth mindset in receiving feedback 
  • Trust and psychological safety in feedback relationships 

Part 3: Active Listening Skills  

  • The role of listening in effective communication 
  • Levels of listening: passive, selective, attentive, and empathetic 
  • Listening barriers and how to overcome them 

Part 4: Giving Constructive Feedback  

  • The Qualities of Effective Feedback 
  • The SBI (Situation–Behavior–Impact) Model 
  • The AID (Action–Impact–Desired Outcome) Framework 
  • Using "I" language and positive intent 
  • Giving positive and developmental feedback 
  • Role-play activity: Practicing giving feedback in pairs
