Structure of Programme:

The programme covers the following topics: 

Part 1: The Strategic Role of Training  

  • Overview of organisational learning and development 
  • How training supports strategic objectives 
  • Case study: Linking training to business impact 
  • Group discussion: Current training practices in your organisation 

Activity: “Training Strategy Match-Up” – Match sample organisational goals with training interventions. 

Part 2: Conducting a Training Needs Analysis  

  • What is TNA and why it matters 
  • Levels of TNA: Individual, team, organisational 
  • Tools and techniques (surveys, interviews, observation, KPIs) 
  • Identifying skill gaps and performance issues 

Activity: TNA Simulation Exercise – Participants analyse a case scenario and identify training needs. 

Part 3: Designing and Planning Training  

  • Defining clear learning objectives 
  • Structuring content for maximum engagement 
  • Choosing delivery formats (e-learning, in-person, blended) 
  • Adult learning principles and learning styles 

Activity: “Design Lab” – Small groups draft a training outline based on a mock brief. 

Part 4: Delivery and Evaluation of Training  

  • Facilitator vs. trainer roles 
  • Interactive and inclusive delivery techniques 
  • Measuring training effectiveness (Kirkpatrick’s Levels) 
  • Proving ROI and ensuring sustainability of learning 

Part 5: Post-Training Application and Action Planning  

  • Creating post-training reinforcement plans 
  • Encouraging line manager involvement 
  • Personal action planning 

Output: Participants create their own action plan to implement one improvement to their organisation’s training approach.
