This programme is aimed specifically at building and improving self-confidence in people who want to overcome psychological hurdles to achieving their goals and become all that they can become. It focuses on the nature of the internal dialogue and helps you understand and appreciate the nature of your thinking and beliefs and how these impact the way you feel and the way you perceive your goals and aspirations. Participants are helped to identify blocks to self-esteem and self-confidence by recognising negative internal messages termed “subpersonalities” and master the skill of transforming this thinking into more realistic and empowering self-talk.

The programme covers the following topics: 

Part 1. Welcome and Introduction

  • Icebreaker 
  • Overview of the session's purpose and objectives 

Part 2. Understanding Personal Power and Confidence 

  • What is “personal power”? Exploring definitions and associations 
  • Confidence vs self-esteem – clarifying key concepts 
  • The connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours 

Part 3. The Nature of Internal Dialogue 

  • Guided reflection: Noticing your self-talk 
  • Introduction to subpersonalities (inner critic, saboteur, perfectionist, etc.) 
  • Group discussion: Which internal voices do you hear most often? 
  • Exercise: Journaling personal examples of negative inner messages 

Part 4. Identifying Limiting Beliefs 

  • What are limiting beliefs and where do they come from? 
  • Common thought distortions (e.g., all-or-nothing thinking, catastrophising) 
  • Activity: Belief-mapping – identifying and writing down personal limiting beliefs 

Part 5. Reframing and Transforming Negative Self-Talk 

  • Introduction to the “Realistic Thinking” approach 
  • Strategies to challenge and reframe inner critics 
  • Practice activity: Transforming limiting thoughts into empowering alternatives 
  • Group share: New empowering affirmations 

Part 6. Building Self-Confidence Through Action 

  • The role of small wins and realistic goals in boosting confidence
