Students participating in accredited training under the Get Qualified Scheme Malta

The Get Qualified Scheme is a Malta government initiative that rewards individuals for investing in accredited training. Unlike MySkills, this scheme is a personal tax credit — not a cash grant. You pay for your course upfront and recover a portion of the cost against your income tax liability once you complete the programme.

Key Benefits (tax credit for individuals):

  • Participants: recover up to 70% of eligible training costs as a personal tax credit.
  • Maximum credit: €10,000 per application.
  • Eligible: employed, self-employed, and business owners who pay Malta income tax.

Eligibility

Applicants must satisfy the following criteria at the time of application:

  • Be at least 15 years old.
  • Be legally residing in Malta.
  • Have an active Malta income tax position (personal, self-employed, or business).
  • Not be employed by the training provider delivering the course.
  • Not have already completed the training course for which they are applying.

Eligible Courses

Full Qualifications and Awards pegged between MQF Levels 1 to 5 qualify. For MQF Levels 6 and 7, only Awards qualify under the scheme.

Note: Get Qualified is a personal tax credit — not a cash grant. If you have no Malta tax liability, or you are an employer funding your team, ask us about MySkills (cash grant reimbursement) or Investing in Skills (IIS) (employer tax credit).
